The Goose is Loose Multi-day Experience

SPIRAL MIGRATIONS - PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER Understand the process of creating your own original design star quilt, complete with complex circular borders, and free-form geese creating motion and adding light. Its simple and easy with a ruler and a compass, even for those of you who hate math. This class is designed for the student that desires and in-depth experience, exploring all aspects of creating innovative geometric quilts. Students will learn all of the techniques used in this type of design, from circular stars and multiple circular borders to free-form geese, asymmetrical design, color selection, and use of contrast and scale. Drafting and stitching techniques such as paper foundation piecing will be covered. Each student will work on an original design. Intermediate Skill Level; Multi-day Class; 18-30 hours recommended, 12 hours minimum.

The Goose is Loose! Piecing Free-form shapes.

This is Gail’s most popular class, by far! It introduces the student to original design in free-form shapes with emphasis on the flying goose design. Learn the drafting and piecing techniques for flying geese in the round, loose curves, or swirls. It is sew easy to do; students are often surprised at the simplicity of the technique, taught with no scary math words! These designs can be simply designed and easily stitched using paper piecing techniques. All Skill Levels; 1 Day Class; 6 hours.

Sensational Stars
	Explore the design process used to create one-of-a-kind, circular stars. Students will learn drafting, color selection, and stitching techniques as they create their own original design star. Students may elect to make their own design or to purchase one of Gail's Circular Star Patterns for $7.00 Intermediate Skill Level; 1 Day Class; 6 hours.

Scrumptious Star Stichery
	This class is especially tailored for the novice paper foundation-piecer. Working with one of Gail’s designs, learn the ins and outs of this fascinating technique that enables the student to stitch very complex designs with ease and best of all, accuracy. All Skill Levels; 1 Day Class; 6 hours. $7.00 pattern fee. (Fabric kits are available for this class)

Designing Circular Borders

DESIGNING CIRCULAR BORDERS (½ day) It’s not magic! It’s easy, using simple drafting techniques, with Gail’s sure fire, no “scary math words” teaching style. Learn to draft circular flying geese, spirals, big n’ little, and more. Students will learn drafting techniques for a variety of circular borders. All Skill Levels; ½ Day Class; 3 hours. No stitching in this class. DESIGNING CIRCULAR BORDERS (Full day) This class includes everything taught in the above class but features a greater variety of designs. Students will also learn paper foundation piecing techniques and stitch a variety of samples to take home. All Skill Levels; 1 Day Class; 6 hours.

Mariner's Compass
	Have you always been afraid to try a Mariner's Compass? See how easy it can be! You will learn to draft and paper foundation piece a 14" compass that can be finished into a wall hanging. Discussion will include isolating motifs in fabric to further enhance your design. Intermediate Skill Level; 1 Day Class; 6 hours. Patterns will be available for sale in class for $7.00

Color in Quilting
	This half-day class introduces the student to simple color design. Play with colored pencils and fabric scraps as you explore color theory. No sewing involved. All Skill Levels; ½ day class; 3 hours. $8 Materials Fee per Student.

Beyond Flying Geese: Flying Fish and other Whimsicals

A new twist on an old traditional quilting design, along with flying diamonds, and three-dimensional embellishment. Use freezer paper foundation piecing to create whimsical creatures that will tickle your funny bone! All skill levels. 1/2 day class - 3 hours. Class kit includes pattern for 18" x 26" wall hanging, foundations, and materials for quilt top: $45.00. Kits will include an assortment of designs and fabrics. I will bring more kits than necessary for the number of students, so no one will have to take the last choice.
