Flying Colors - Putting it all together
 

Intermediate Level
Multi-day Class; 18-30 hrs recommended, 12 hrs minimum. 

Understand the process of creating your own original design star quilt, complete with complex circular borders, and free-form geese creating motion and adding light. Its simple and easy with a ruler and a compass, even for those of you who hate math. This class is designed for the student that desires and in-depth experience, exploring all aspects of creating innovative geometric quilts. Students will learn design, color selection, use of contrast and scale, and stitching techniques such as freezer paper foundation piecing.  $7 workbook fee.


Sensational Stars and Spectacular Circular Borders
  Intermediate Skill level
2 Day Class; 12 hours

Two days to explore, draw, design and play!  Spend a two day “vacation” learning the fundamentals of star design and a myriad of spectacular borders.  In this class you’ll create a full sized original quilt design with a central star and surrounding borders, and begin stitching it together using paper foundation piecing.  Learn the step-by-step process to make your own one-of-a-kind art quilt.  $7 workbook fee.


Goose is Loose - Designing with Free-form Shapes
  Intermediate Skill Level
1 Day Class; 6 hours

This is Gail’s most popular class, by far!  It introduces the student to original design in free-form shapes.  Learn the drafting and piecing techniques for flying geese in the round, loose curves, or swirls.  It is sew easy to do; students are often surprised at the simplicity of the technique, taught with no scary math words!  These designs can be simply designed and easily stitched using freezer paper piecing techniques. 



Sensational Stars
 
Intermediate Skill Level
1 Day Class; 6 hours

Design your own circular stars in different settings.  Students will learn drafting and paper foundation piecing techniques as well as tips for glorious color selection.  By the afternoon, you’ll be stitching together your one-of-a-kind celestial masterpiece! A circular star pattern is available as a backup.




Scrumptious Star Stitchery
  All Skill Levels
1 Day Class; 6 hours

This class is especially tailored for the novice paper foundation-piecer.  Working with one of Gail’s designs, learn the ins and outs of this fascinating technique that enables the student to stitch very complex designs with ease and best of all, accuracy.   $7.00 pattern fee.  (Fabric kits are available for this class)



Designing Circular Borders
 
All Skill Levels
½ Day Class (Designing, but no stitching, so no sewing machine needed)

1 day class (Designing and stitching. Students will stitch samples and learn freezer paper foundation techniques)

It’s not magic! It’s easy, using simple drafting techniques, with Gail’s sure fire, no “scary math words”  teaching style.  Learn to draft circular flying geese, spirals, big n’ little, and more. Students will learn drafting techniques for a variety of circular borders. $5.00 workbook fee



Introduction to Freezer Paper Foundation Piecing
  Novice  level
Half-day or Full-Day Class; 3 or 6 hours

The perfect class for a first time paper piecer!  Let Gail introduce you  to the quickest, easiest way to piece intricate designs.  Her freezer paper foundation method is quick to learn and you’ll be on your way to piecing the adorable “Something Fishy”, “Flutterby Butterfly” or the sophisticated “Starry Night” pattern in class. You’ll pick up plenty of tips to make paper piecing fun! $8.00 pattern fee includes all three patterns.


Color and Contrast in Quilting
  All Skill Levels
1/2 day class; 3 hours
 

This class introduces color design and effective use of contrast in quilting. Feel more confident in selecting dynamic fabrics for your future quilts.  Play with fabric scraps, swapping and sharing with others, as we explore color and contrast theory.  No sewing involved and no UFO to take home!  $8 materials fee per student.
